Well the weather man's predictions stopped us taking on a more challenging walk but even though he got it wrong we had a brilliant day. The sun shone and we took a walk over the Old Brig O'Dee and through the Ballochbuie Forest which is glorious with amazing views, you can understand why Queen Victoria wanted to perserve it. We walked up to the Honka Hut where we enjoyed lunch. From here we took a small detour to see the oldest tree which is in its 431st year! Compared to some of the Granny Pines it was really small so it surprised us with its age.Back on the path we visited the Falls of Gargh Allt which were beautiful and were only a short walk from the bus. We ended the day back at Balmoral Castle and enjoyed a wee picnic together. This walk was great. We really enjoyed the company and expertise of Glynn our ranger for the day, a big thank you to him.
Coming soon... FIND WALLY IN BALLATER!

As part of Aberdeenshire Wellbeing Festival, Deeside PANDAS is running complimentary buggy fit classes through the month of June. The classes will be run by Ruth from Aboyne Gym. We hope to give all mothers the opportunity to get outside, meet others and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Another publication off to print this week!
As well as featuring the full programme of what's happening on the day, the Ballater Highland Games programme 2017 is packed full of interesting articles and features and, of course, some fantastic photography by Amy Muir Photography.
It will be available, price £3, from various outlets across the village from the first week of July and on Games Day itself, Thursday August 10th in Monaltrie Park.

So many amazing photo opportunities at Georgia & Allan's Coo Cathedral wedding at the weekend. We couldn't help ourselves from posting this many preview shots.
The couple, along with some fantastic suppliers, really outdit themselves. The venue was looking absolutely magnificent! Hats off to them. 🙌🏻👌🏻
We especially loved the way they included a framed memento of the very origin of their relationship (Al's chat up note & number, left for Georgia to find once he'd departed the train)
How adorable is that?!..😍
A truly fantastic day and a couple to match. We look forward to sharing more of their big day soon...

Just back in from a long night, called out at 1730 hours out to a fallen climber on Shelterstone crag. Joint response with Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team and assisted by R951, good effort all round and hopefully a speedy recovery for the injured party. Time for a kip before work.
